I had the good fortune to Iive in Pune, India for three months and continue to be inspired by the everyday optimism I see in the Warli work. Traditionally married Warli women paint scenes of prosperous village life on the walls of newlyweds’ homes as a symbol of good fortune and inclusion. Today artists are also men but the theme of Warli art continues to be an optimistic reflection of the everyday world around them.
